The Living Stack
A field guide from arrows to architecture.
The Path of Many Arrows asks why we need better civilizational design. The Living Stack asks how we might begin building it without losing the humans it is meant to serve.
A book can diagnose a machine. A field guide has to ask where the wrench goes.
What kind of stack is worthy of intelligence?
The inquiry travels along three connected rails. The Path of Many Arrows supplies the literary journey and civilizational diagnosis. Tiers develops a technical grammar for adaptive architecture. NEURO explores the organs of a living civilization, while the Neusphere provides a distributed commons for attention, memory, modelling, deliberation, and learning.
The aim is not a finished blueprint imposed on the future. It is a practical way to begin: making assumptions visible, testing consequences through models and simulation, designing transitions people can survive, and keeping both institutions and technologies open to correction.
This book remains in progress. That condition belongs to its subject. A living stack must be able to learn while preserving the lives, relationships, and meanings that give learning its purpose.
Selections from the book will appear here as the manuscript develops.
